Teacher Training Courses Available in Chennai
GMTTI’s Chennai centres offer three distinct teacher training pathways. They are related but serve different career goals, so understanding the difference before enrolling is important.
Montessori Teacher Training
The Montessori Teacher Training course is built on the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. It covers the prepared environment, sensorial materials (Pink Tower, Broad Stair, Colour Boxes, Geometric Cabinet), language development through sandpaper letters and moveable alphabets, mathematical concept formation through golden bead material, the three-period lesson, mixed-age group management, and child observation.
This course is most suitable if you specifically want to work in a Montessori school or Montessori-aligned preschool, or if you plan to open your own Montessori early years centre.
ECCE Teacher Training (Early Childhood Care and Education)
The ECCE course is a broader programme covering child development from birth to six years, aligned with India’s National Education Policy 2020 framework. It includes developmental psychology, inclusive teaching, nutrition and health awareness, family engagement and community-based early learning approaches.
This course is suitable if you want to work in government-recognised preschools, NGO early learning programmes, corporate daycare facilities, or community childcare settings, not only Montessori-specific environments.
Nursery Teacher Training (NTT)
The NTT course focuses specifically on teaching children aged two to five in nursery, playgroup and pre-primary classrooms. It covers activity design, creative arts, early literacy and numeracy, storytelling, classroom management and daily routines.
This course is suitable if your primary goal is nursery or playgroup teaching, and you want direct preparation for the classroom rather than a broader early childhood development qualification.
