Montessori Teacher Training Course

Montessori Teacher Training Course in Ahmedabad, India

A Montessori classroom does not look like a regular school. There are no rows of desks. No blackboard lectures. Children choose their own activities from carefully arranged shelves. A three-year-old works with colour tablets at one table while a five-year-old counts bead chains at another. The teacher watches, guides, and steps in only when needed.

Teaching this way requires a very specific set of skills that most conventional training never covers. You need to understand why a child lines up blocks in a row, why another refuses to share, and when to let a struggle continue because the child is learning from it. You need to know the exact purpose of every piece of Montessori apparatus on the shelf and how to present it to a child who has never seen it before.

That is what we teach at Global Montessori & Teacher Training Institute (GMTTI). Not just the theory. The actual classroom skills that schools want and children need.

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, GMTTI has been training Montessori educators since 2010. Over 5,000 teachers have completed our programmes. We operate through 55+ affiliated training centres across India, and our courses are internationally accredited by IA. Whether you are in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, or any other city, you can train with GMTTI through our regular, distance, or online learning modes.

What You Will Actually Learn

Our Montessori teacher training curriculum is not a collection of PDFs to download. It is a structured programme that takes you from understanding why Montessori works to being able to walk into a classroom and teach on day one.

Educational Philosophy of Maria Montessori: not just the history, but how her principles apply in a real Indian classroom in 2026. Why the prepared environment matters. Why freedom within limits works. Why mixed-age grouping produces better outcomes.

Child Psychology and Developmental Stages: how children aged 0 to 6 think, process, and grow. The sensitive periods. The absorbent mind. Why a four-year-old learns differently from a six-year-old and what that means for how you teach them.

Sensorial Education: hands-on training with Montessori sensorial materials. The colour tablets that teach visual discrimination. The sound boxes that develop auditory perception. The geometric solids that build spatial awareness. You learn the exact presentation technique for each material, because in Montessori, how you present matters as much as what you present.

Language and Literacy: sandpaper letters, moveable alphabets, phonics-based reading strategies, and storytelling techniques designed for young learners who are still forming sentences.

Mathematics: number rods, spindle boxes, golden bead materials, bead chains. How to make abstract mathematical concepts concrete for a child who cannot yet write the number 5 but can count five beads and understand what five means.

Practical Life Exercises: pouring, buttoning, food preparation, sweeping. Activities that look simple but develop fine motor skills, concentration, independence, and a sense of order.

Classroom Management and Environment Setup: creating a prepared environment where 20 children can work independently and you still feel in control. Where to place materials. How to rotate them. How to observe without interfering.

Lesson Planning and Assessment: designing, delivering, and evaluating Montessori lessons. How to track each child’s progress when every child is working on something different.

Each module includes assessments through MCQs and practical assignments. Diploma and Advanced Diploma candidates also complete a lesson plan creation project and a case study.

Career Opportunities After Montessori Training

There are thousands of Montessori schools in India, and the number keeps growing. Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and dozens of tier-2 cities all have schools actively looking for trained Montessori teachers. Internationally, Montessori educators from India are in demand across the Gulf countries, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

What you can realistically do after completing your training: teach at Montessori schools, preschools, and international schools (ages 2 to 6, or 2 to 10 for international). Work as a curriculum developer designing Montessori-aligned programmes. Take on coordinator or head teacher roles at early years centres. Advise schools as an education consultant. Open your own Montessori school, preschool, or teacher training centre through the GMTTI franchise model..

Starting salaries for Montessori-certified teachers in India range from Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000 per month for freshers. With 2 to 5 years of experience, this grows to Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000. Senior educators, coordinators, and those in international schools earn significantly more. The certificate does not expire and the skills remain relevant for life.
