Nursery Teacher Training Course in Ahmedabad, India
Walk into any play school or nursery classroom and you will see it instantly: the teacher who is trained handles children differently. She knows when to let a child struggle with a puzzle and when to step in. She reads a tantrum as communication, not defiance. She turns snack time into a counting lesson without the children even realising they are learning.
That kind of skill does not come from instinct alone. It comes from training. And that is exactly what the Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) course at Global Montessori & Teacher Training Institute (GMTTI) is designed to give you.
Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, GMTTI has been training early childhood educators since 2010. Over 5,000 teachers have completed our programmes, and we now operate through 55+ affiliated training centres across India. Our NTT course is internationally accredited by IAO, which means your certificate is recognised by nurseries, play schools, preschools, and international schools in India and abroad.
What Exactly is NTT?
NTT stands for Nursery Teacher Training. It is a professional diploma programme designed to prepare you for teaching children aged 2 to 5 years in nurseries, play schools, daycare centres, and kindergartens. Unlike a B.Ed, which focuses on teaching older children in Classes 6 to 12, the NTT course is built entirely around the needs of the youngest learners.
Why does this matter? Because a two-year-old does not learn the way a ten-year-old does. Young children learn through play, through touch, through songs, through routine. They need teachers who understand child psychology at a foundational level, who know how to plan activities that build cognitive, social, and motor skills, and who can create a classroom where 15 energetic toddlers feel safe, engaged, and genuinely happy to be there.
With the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 formally recognising ages 3 to 8 as the foundational stage of education, the demand for trained nursery and pre-primary teachers in India has grown significantly. Schools and preschools are actively hiring NTT-certified educators, and the qualification carries real weight in the job market.
NTT Course Subjects and Curriculum
Here is what our NTT curriculum actually covers, and more importantly, what you will be able to do after completing it:
Child Psychology and Developmental Stages: understanding how children aged 0 to 5 think, feel, and grow. You learn to recognise developmental milestones and respond to each child as an individual. Teaching Methodology for Young Learners: play-based learning, activity-based approaches, storytelling techniques, rhymes, and songs that actually engage toddlers. Language and Communication: building vocabulary, phonics awareness, early reading readiness, and how to develop communication skills in children who are still learning to form sentences. Numeracy and Pre-Mathematical Concepts: number recognition, counting, sorting, pattern-making, and how to make abstract ideas concrete for a three-year-old. Health, Hygiene and Nutrition: understanding the physical wellbeing needs of young children, including first aid awareness and safe classroom practices. Art, Craft and Creative Expression: activities that develop fine motor skills, self-expression, and creativity. Classroom Management: how to set up a child-friendly, safe, and stimulating learning environment where young children can learn independently. Lesson Planning and Assessment: designing age-appropriate activities, daily routines, and simple assessment methods to track each child’s progress. Parent-Teacher Communication: building trust with parents and keeping them informed about their child’s development.
Each module includes assessments through MCQs and practical assignments. Diploma candidates also complete a lesson plan creation project.

Career Opportunities and Salary After NTT
India’s preschool and early childhood education sector is growing rapidly. Every city, from metropolitan centres like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad to tier-2 and tier-3 towns, has dozens of play schools, nurseries, daycare centres, and kindergartens that need trained nursery teachers. Completing a recognised NTT course opens up a wide range of career paths:
Nursery Teacher at play schools, crèches, and daycare centres for children aged 2 to 5 years. Pre-primary or KG Teacher at CBSE, ICSE, and state board-affiliated schools. Preschool Teacher at Montessori schools, activity centres, and early learning centres. Curriculum Developer designing play-based and activity-based learning programmes for young learners. Daycare Coordinator or Preschool In-Charge managing day-to-day operations. Education Consultant advising schools and parents on early childhood development. Entrepreneur: start your own play school, nursery, daycare, or preschool. GMTTI also offers a franchise model for those who want to start their own teacher training centre.
Starting salaries for NTT-certified teachers in India typically range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000 per month for freshers. With 2 to 5 years of experience, this grows to Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per month. Senior roles like coordinator, head teacher, and positions in international schools pay significantly more. Internationally, trained nursery educators from India are in demand across the Gulf countries, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
